朋友, 我喜歡用路加福音18章9至14節的法利賽人和稅吏的禱告作本日曠野筵席的補充默思。

⁹ 耶 穌 向 那 些 仗 著 自 己 是 義 人 ， 藐 視 別 人 的 ， 設 一 個 比 喻 ，¹⁰ 說 ： 有 兩 個 人 上 殿 裡 去 禱 告 ： 一 個 是 法 利 賽 人 ， 一 個 是 稅 吏 。¹¹ 法 利 賽 人 站 著 ， 自 言 自 語 的 禱 告 說 ： 神 阿 ， 我 感 謝 你 ， 我 不 像 別 人 勒 索 、 不 義 、 姦 淫 ， 也 不 像 這 個 稅 吏 。¹² 我 一 個 禮 拜 禁 食 兩 次 ， 凡 我 所 得 的 都 捐 上 十 分 之 一 。¹³ 那 稅 吏 遠 遠 的 站 著 ， 連 舉 目 望 天 也 不 敢 ， 只 捶 著 胸 說 ： 神 阿 ， 開 恩 可 憐 我 這 個 罪 人 ！¹⁴ 我 告 訴 你 們 ， 這 人 回 家 去 比 那 人 倒 算 為 義 了 ； 因 為 ， 凡 自 高 的 ， 必 降 為 卑 ； 自 卑 的 ， 必 升 為 高 。

「因為只有一位是你們的教師。」（馬太福音     23:8  另譯）

每一個基督的門徒在定義上都應該是一個學生，并且是一直如此。你若是出馬要為人師表，你可能會過分的夸張你自己，結果只會在單純的圣徒的心思里，制造出各种難處。我們過分自信于一己的所知而產生的优越感，必然會把許多的門都關了。我們應該樂意如此說：「對這問題我不知道，因神還沒有指示我。」自認博識的工人，只能招致批評。但如果你常存這种態度——「若是你有什么事情要告訴我，我愿意洗耳恭听，因我在主面前也是一個學徒。」——別人一定不會太難為你。雅各說：「我的弟兄們，不要多人作師傅。」（雅各書3:1）我勸告你們，務要作一個長期的學生。

"For you have but one teacher." (Matthew 23:8)

Every disciple of Christ should be a student by definition.  And it will always so.  If you set out to be a teacher of other disciple from the very beganing, you would be over boast yourself.  The result will only create all kinds of problems for the saints whom you teach. We must not be over self-confidence in what we knew. It will shut up many doors. We should be glad to say, "I don't know about this, because God hasn't shown me." The self-rightous man can only create problems. But as you always were with humble attitude to say— "If you have something to tell me, I will listen, as I am also an apprentice of my Lord."— Others will not make things difficult for you. The Apostle James said, "Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothren, ...... " (James 3:1 NIV). I exhort you to be a long-term student.
