(82) How to deal with the passive voice。

(82)      How to deal with the passive voice。

Mary is bored . ( Mary

I am very interesting in Mathematics.

I think Mathematics is very interesting.’)

I am very interested in Mathematics.

"Every scripture that was ever written was written for our instruction." (Romans 15:4)

Christianity is not only founded on precepts, but also on concrete examples. One of the ways God teaches is through historical facts. The historical records in the Bible tell us how human beings know and obey His will. By paying attention to the lives of the ancient saints, we can not only discover God's will for us, but also learn how to accomplish it. God's hand guides them in life and expresses his desire for them here. He also wants us to pay attention to these things so that we can understand more clearly what He has planned in us.

Do we need to clearly teach a child to do everything? Does every detail of life have to be individually permitted or forbidden? Couldn't the child learn much from simply observing the action-life of their parents? We learn more quickly and more from observation than from listening. And the impression produced by the former is also more profound in us, because precepts are undoubtedly abstract, while examples express the operation method of truth in a very concrete way. In principle, God's method of working is still the same in today's age as it was in the days of the Bible. He has given us many historical facts in the New Testament and the Old Testament, so that we may have hope together through the endurance and comfort in the Bible.

(81) How to use the Modifier

(81)             How to use the Modifier (2)

Mary's job is boring.  (Mary

Mary is bored . 不可写Mary is boring).

I am very interesting in Mathematics.

I think Mathematics is very interesting.’)

I am very interested in Mathematics.

It was quite surprising that he passed the examination.

Everybody was surprised that he passed the examination.

The film was disappointing. I expected it to be much better.

I was disappointed with the film. I expected it to be much better.

The news was very shocking.

I was very shocked when I heard the news.

"Therefore, as it is written: Let him who boasts boast in the Lord." (1 Corinthians 1:31 NIV)

In 1 Corinthians 9 : 21 Paul speaks,  "being in the presence of Christ and under the law".  For you and me, the above sentence does not refer to trying to keep the law, because we all know the result of keeping the law by ourselves! That statement refers to how we can demonstrate in ourselves the power of Christ, which enables us to keep the law. This is very different from keeping the law by our own efforts. Such dependence on Christ can only produce in us a deep humility. It is true that any aspect of God's grace in us will always humble us. If I am a little proud of an achievement, it is probably the result of relying on my own efforts. But if it's not my own work, I can't be proud of it. It is the Master who did the work that is glorified. God must have all the glory, so he insists on doing all his work himself. I have to participate the rejoicing in what He has done for me, and must praise Him.

340 中翻英 (80) How to use Modifier。 3/29/2023

340  中翻英 (80)                  How to use Modifier。

It   is  a very   cold   to-day。

March 29

"Exalted to the right hand of God,  He has received from the Father the promised the Holy Spirit, and has poured out what you now see and hear." (Acts 2:33 NIV )

How can I receive the power of the Holy Spirit to serve? Do I have to work hard for this? Do I have to beg God for this? Must I afflict my soul by self-denial and fasting, before I can receive it? No,  these are not from the Bible teaching. Please consider carefully: How do we receive the forgiveness of sins? According to the riches of His grace, Paul tells us, which was "given to us by His Beloved Son".  We are granted the power by His grace, but redeemed by His blood, which is also based on His finished work on the cross.  What is the basis for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit from the Bible teaching ? It is based on the exaltation of the Lord Jesus Christ. Because of the Lord Jesus died on the cross, my sins are forgiven, and since He has been exalted on the throne, I have power from the above.

339 中翻英 (79) Pronoun is Pro-Noun。 3/28/2023

339  中翻英 (79)                Pronoun is Pro-Noun。

我們如果說 “"John speaks to John's mother, but John's mother does not hear John",  每個人都會覺得這一句陳述長得無謂而且笨得很.  通常是說  "John speaks to his mother, but she does not hear him".  His, she, him  這些單詞是代表或代替, John's ,  John's mother John多麽簡潔明暸.

"So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view.  Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer." (2 Corinthians  5:16  NIV)

Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. (John 20:1) She could not satisfy Mary's heart with an empty tomb, because she longed to see the body of the Lord. She wept and said to the two angels, ".... Someone has taken my Lord away, and I don't know where they put." Then she turned around and saw the Lord whom she was familiar with, but she thought He was strange people. If you doubt the need for spiritual revelation, consider this!

There is a very important principle here. Christ was crucified "according to the flesh". If we know Him according to the flesh, the result is to seek that body in vain. Mary was limited by this kind of understanding, so although she saw the Lord Jesus standing there, she could not recognize Him. oh! Did Mary's faculties change? No, that is because the Lord Jesus has been raised from the dead and restored to His glory by the power of the Holy Spirit. Because of his change in resurrection, the way of knowing him must also change. Only when the Lord Jesus spoke to her did Mary know Him. The Lord speaking to us is the source of all revelation. You can never explain this inner light in human terms. In short, you understand - and that's enough.

Mary used to cry. She went to seek the Lord's body, but made a mistake in identifying the Lord. Many of us have much to cry about, we'll hit a wall and be caught on all sides, and then we'll hear a cry beside us: "Mary"—behold, at this hour, the One we thought we had lost The Lord, who has come, has appeared before us!

338 中翻英 (78) The fragrance of Christ. 3/27/2023

338  中翻英 (78)                The fragrance of Christ.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  March 27

"The house was filled with the aroma of the ointment." (John 12:3)

Mary broke the jar of ointment for the Lord's sake.  The house of Bethany was permeated full with the sweetest fragrance. There are something unleashed for the masses that no one can ignore. What does this matter mean to us? Have you ever met a man who suffered so much that his experience enforced him to be satisfied only in the Lord? When you meet him, you will immediately smell something, and your spirit moves smelling a fragrance which is what Paul called "the fragrance of Christ." You can tell by smelling the fragrance of Christ leashing from a broken heart of the suffering saint for the purpose of releasing God Himself from within his heart.  Untill today, the church is filled with the fragrance which was released from the house of Bethany that day.  The fragrance which Mary released it will be filled in the world forever.

(77) Because we are sinners, we need a savior. 3/26/2023

(77)  Because we are sinners, we need a savior.

".....  Go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find four a four - drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for My tax and yours."     (Matthew 17:27 NIV)The Lord must intend using this gracious miracle to speak to Peter as a parable. "For My tax and yours too." (maybe translated as "for Me and for you too"). Someone say that this miracle is the only one of the Lord Jesus performs for Himself.  Yes, but it was only half for Himself, because the other half was for Peter. You and I can also add "for me too".  One dollar paid the taxes of two people by grace, it showed us here a marvelously intimate bond between the Lord Jesus and His servant.

What was the meaning of a fish in the performed miracles? Doesn't this make us assure what we stand in the right situation and obey God's will?  Doesn't God response fully to meet our needs?  We can expect Him to provide the extra needs, as we do the loving service with more than  the duty .

336 中翻英 (76) God is faithful. 3/25/2023

336  中翻英 (76)              God is faithful.

March 25

".... Then your Father,  who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." (Matthew 6:6  NIV)

We need not to figure out what for attracting attention of others to look our work. God can take this under on His sovereign arrangement. We trust God in our lives.  Why do we need to proclaim it by ourselves? It makes me tiresome as I hear God's people stressing that they live by faith . Do we really believe in His sovereign and provision? If it is so, then we can trust the Lord to show our needs to the other saints, and He will do everything for us without us declaring them. We don't even have to worry when others stop giving as they infer from our lifestyle that we have a private income. I advise my young brothers to keep silent, not only for their personal needs, but also for their little trust in God, so that all their needs can better prove the Lord’s provision. A person with greater faith does not mention his great faith.

(75) .... perplexed, but not in despair. 3/24/2023

(75)    .... perplexed, but not in despair.

" The heart is troubled, but not disappointed." (2 Corinthians 4:8)

It has been my sincere ambition to be a true Christian, since I was converted and saved. Of course I have my own conception of what is the standard of Christianity, and I do my best to live for matching to that standard. I think a real Christian must be smiling from morning to night! As long as he sheds a single tear, he is not living a victorious life. In addition, he must be full of courage at any time and any place. As long as he has the slightest timidity, he has already failed greatly in trusting the Lord. Such a person is actually far from my standard.

However, I discovered soon that the Christian life was very different from what I had expected. It turns out that the life of a Christian is to be strong in weakness, to rejoice in pain, to show the victory of faith in the face of doubts, which is a unity of contradictions. When a Christian is strongest in the Lord, he often feels powerless; when he is bravest, he may be aware of his inner fear; when he is happiest, a feeling of distress returns Attacked him back. Only God's "great power" (Ephesians 1:19-20) could lift him to the heights.

"If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord.  So, whether we live or die, we are belong to the Lord's." (Romans 14:8)

Let us not stress too much the technicalities of the Christian life, but rather the basic fact that we are "Christ's." What we do is for Him. We live and die for the Lord. We must never try to force those who are different from us to think or act like us. Our sole purpose is to bring him closer to Christ. Because what we do is not for superficial correctness, nor for imitating some good things, but for the purpose of bringing people closer to God Himself. Is there a brother whose opinion is very different from mine? Let me first remember: what he did, and what I did, is for the Lord! As long as we all have a common goal of "for the Lord", we can live in harmony with each other even if there are differences on the outside. The sovereignty of the Lord Jesus Christ is central to the Christian. If He is really your Lord and really my Lord, then He will personally adjust other issues.

(73) "If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles." 3/23/2023

(73)            "If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles."

"If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles." (Matthew 5:41)

There was a brother who had a rice field in the middle of the mountain in southern China . On dry days, he used a pedal pump to pump water to irrigate his fields. His neighbor also has two paddy fields below his. One night, the neighbor opened a breach in his field embankment, and all the water in his field flowed into the neighbor's field. The next day, when the christian brother found out his field without water, he repaired the breach in the embankment and pumped more water into the rice field, but his neighbor repeated the same trick three or four times. So the brother asked his christian brothers for advice, and he explained, "I have endured as much as I could, and not to retaliate." Then he asked, "Am I doing it right?"  One of the brothers said, "If we only try to do the 'right' thing, then we are some very poor Christians, and we should do something more than 'right' ". The brother who had suffered was greatly moved. The next morning, he pumped water to the neighbor's two fields first, and pump water to his own field only in the afternoon. Since then, his fields have always the water.  His neighbor moved by his behavior, then to began into investigating.  He became a Christian also later.

"True" or "wrong" is the principle of life for Gentiles and tax collectors (Matthew 5:46-47), but not for us --- Christians. "Conformity to Christ" is the principle that our Christians lives follow it.
