今日(三月六日)的曠野筵席委實是豐富的盛宴。路得(Ruth)是主耶穌的先袓，因為她先奉獻給上帝，祂就賜給她極豐富的賞賜 ---   作為我們主耶穌基督的先祖。如果我們沒有先將自己獻給上帝，救贖對我們便成為一件空洞無益的事。

「….他必告訴你所當做的事。」（路得記  3:4）

從約書亞的日子直到基督降世的時候，所有以色列的子民都要保存他們的產業。所以到了禧年的時候，那些讓給別人的產業都要歸還給原來的物主。由于持續承受產業需要原來的業主有后嗣，所以律法規定，人死后遺下妻子而沒有儿子，他的近親便應該娶那寡婦，為死者有留后嗣。但拿俄米的遭遇比這個更悲慘。她既守寡又年老，已經不能再生育了。這樣，她已故丈夫的產業如何被贖回呢？她的媳婦路得雖然愿意，但她是一個外邦人，只有那位上了年紀的波阿斯才是能夠幫助拿俄米的近親。但波阿斯肯贖一個外邦人么？因路得的需要不單是要贖回田地，她還必須結婚。她必須將自己獻給波阿斯。

如果我們沒有將自己獻給神，救贖便成為一件空洞無益的事。波阿斯稱贊路得是很切當的，因為她沒有戀慕英俊而轉去跟從少年人，她要的是成全神的律法。我們只要稍看一下她的后代，就知道她實在是大獲賞賜了。凡奉獻給神的人，必得著丰富的報答。

"….He will tell you what you must do." (Ruth 3:4) 

From the days of Joshua to the time of Christ, all the children of Israel were to preserve their inheritance. When the Jubilee comes, therefore all those properties that have been given up to others must be returned to their original owners. Since the continuation of the inheritance required the original owners to have heirs, the law stipulated that as a man died leaving a wife but no sons, his next of kin should marry the widow and leave heirs for the deceased. But what happened to Naomi was more tragic than this. She is a widowed and old woman, and can no longer bear children. How, then, was her late husband's estate redeemed? Her daughter-in-law Ruth was willing, but she was a Gentile, and only the elderly Boaz was a close relative who could help Naomi. But would Boaz redeem a Gentile? For Ruth's need was not only to redeem the land, she also had to marry. She must dedicate herself to Boaz.

If we do not dedicate ourselves to God, redemption is an empty and useless. It is very appropriate for Boaz to praise Ruth, because she did not turn to follow the handsome young man, she wanted only to fulfill the law of God. We need only glance at her descendants to see that she was truly rewarded. Those who dedicate themselves to God will be richly rewarded.
