「愿救贖我脫离一切患難的那使者，賜福与這兩個童子。」（創48:16）

以撒和雅各二人，表明了基督徒客觀和主觀的兩方面經歷。以撒是白白領受恩典的一面，他接受了一切。雅各是另外的一面，他并沒有從別人接受什么，他必須在勞苦中去得到他的一切，他的性格就是從這樣的操練中形成的。兩人都曾以預言性的話祝福他們的儿子，但兩人的預言是何等的不同！以撒并不知道他所做的是什么一回事，那接受他祝福的人，与他本人所意愿的，剛剛相反。但雅各卻很明亮的知道他所做的是什么，所以當約瑟抗議他做錯了的時候，他回答說：「我知道，我儿，我知道！」他毫無錯誤的稱呼每個儿子的名字，并很准确地了解他們和他們的前途。因他已經學會了，知道什么是等候神的救恩。

"May the Angel who redeemed me from all my troubles bless the boys." (Genesis 48:16)

The two persons, Isaac and Jacob, express the two aspects of Christian experience, objective and subjective. Isaac is the aspect of free grace, he accepts everything. Jacob was on the other side. He did not receive anything from others. He had to work hard to get everything he had. His character was formed from such exercises. Both had blessed their son with prophetic words, but how different their prophecies were! Isaac did not know what he was doing, and the one who received his blessing was just the opposite of what he himself intended.  But Jacob knew so well what he was doing that when Joseph protested that he was wrong, he replied, "I know, my son, I know!" Sons' names, and know them and their futures very accurately. Because he has learned and knows what it is to wait for God's salvation.
