「溫良的舌是生命樹，乖謬的嘴使人心碎。」（箴15:4）

溫良，就是不發熱，就是緩和、适度。人說話多了，舌頭就發熱，舌頭熱了，就沒有生命樹。乃是溫良的舌頭是生命樹。溫良的舌頭，是不急躁的舌頭，不糊涂的舌頭，不多話的舌頭。這樣的舌頭，才能像生命樹一樣。一個喜歡說閑話的基督徒，從他身上就聞不到基督的味道。喜歡說閑話的人，是不能有生命供應人的。閑話是一個大漏洞，閑話要把你的生命漏掉了。

閑話是生命的漏洞，那怎么辦呢？我們要守住口，就先要對付心。主說：「因為心里所充滿的，口里就說出來。」是心里有這樣東西，口里才說出來。你心里有這樣東西，你口里遲早要說兩句。所以你在神面前要學習不說閑話，就要從心里對付起。你的心如果不對付，你的口永遠對付不好。因為心里充滿了各种各樣的東西，然后口里才有這許多東西說出來。所以我們千万不要說，我這個人是有口無心的。從主耶穌所說的話看來，沒有這件事。有口就有這一個心。是因為你的心這樣，所以口才這樣。因此要對付閑話，就必須先對付心。

"A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse mouth breaks hearts." (Proverbs 15:4)

To be gentle means not to generate heat, but to be gentle and moderate. When a person talks too much, his tongue becomes hot, and when his tongue is hot, he does not have the tree of life. It is the gentle tongue that is the tree of life. A gentle tongue is a tongue that is not hasty, not confused, and not talkative. Only such a tongue can be like the tree of life. A Christian who likes to gossip does not smell of Christ in him. Those who like to gossip cannot supply others with life. Gossip is a big loophole, and gossip will slip your life away.

Gossip is a loophole in life, so what to do? If we want to guard our mouth, we must first deal with our heart. The Lord said, "For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks." It is because there is such a thing in the heart that the mouth speaks. If you have such a thing in your heart, sooner or later you will say something in your mouth. Therefore, you must learn not to gossip before God, and you must deal with it from the heart. If your heart is not dealt with, your mouth will never be dealt with well. Because the heart is filled with all kinds of things, and then the mouth can utter these many things. So we must not say that I am a person who speaks but does not mean. From what the Lord Jesus said, there is no such thing. Where there is a mouth, there is a heart. It is because your heart is like this, so your eloquence is like this. Therefore, in order to deal with gossip, we must first deal with the heart.
