編輯者累積數十年作翻譯工作的經驗, 深深體會中翻英對我國中學生的困難.  假若不是上帝的靈感動我, 我肯定得不到從事這神聖工作的益處.  作翻譯工作的根基建立在語言的習慣上.  換句話說, 建立在上帝創造人類先天的語言裡. 要想學好英語絕非一朝一夕的可達成的. 

比喻中文在古時是從右到左, 從上到下書寫.  沒有很多的代名詞(編者不習慣用新翻的 '代詞') 只有, 如, 吾, 汝及伊等.  到白話文時代多了你, 妳, 您, 我, 他, 她等; 用為多數時只加一個  "們" 字在後面.  我的意思是說明中文句子有排列造句的趨勢, 如, 東瓜, 西瓜, 南瓜, 香瓜, 苦瓜等.  要翻成英文, 則是各有其固定的名字. 您得有夠用的英文語彙, 才能勝任有餘.  否則, 很不容易. 好了, 讓我舉例進一步的加以說明.

例如,            我喝湯.          英:  I eat soup.          (對)                                                                                                       他喝湯.          英:  He eat soup.      (不對)                                     He eats soup.      (對)                             她喝湯.          英:  She drink soup. (不對, 西方人是用匙吃湯, ) She eats soup.      (對)      

                     黑人的命也是命.        英:   The black's life does matter.                                                                           (語言學者趙元任曾說, 中文的 '是 ' 有時是與後面有關連.  但有時則不然.)

「城是精金的，如同明淨的玻璃。」（啟   21:18 新國際版）

金子對我們來說，是代表完全屬乎神的，玻璃是代表透明的純淨。讓我們應用后者的比喻，以玻璃來代表將來的明淨，以水代表現在的純淨。水很容易被臟污的東西弄得混濁不清，但不洁的東西不能滲進玻璃的結构內。今日我們的純淨，仍然可能改變，正如水一樣，但在將來，我們的明淨有如玻璃，是永不變更的。我們所接受的神圣性情就如精金，那是毫無疑問的。但可怜的是，我們將一些渣滓臟污的混雜物加進去，因此神在我們身上的基本工作就是要滅除。祂借著十字架不斷的在消除這雜質，將我們里面一切出乎「己」的，都帶到主的死的審判之下。我們憑著自己的力量所能產生的珍貴東西，在神看都是渣滓。這一切都必須完全去掉，我們才能在神那永遠的精金圣城中找到地位。

"The city is pure gold, as clear glass." (Revelation 21:18 NIV)

As for us, the gold city represents the city completely belonging to God, becase it is gold.  The glass represents transparency and purity. Let us apply the latter metaphor, using glass as representing future clarity and water as present purity. Water is easily being polluted by dirty matters, but unclean things cannot seep into the glass producing procedure.  Recently our spirit purity can still change, just like water; but for the future, our spirit purity will keep clerity for for ever, just like glass.  No doubt our divine spirit which we have received is like pure gold. But sadly, it will be mixed with some dross and filth, therefore, God's basic work to us is to clean it. He is constantly eliminating this impurity through the cross, bringing everything in us that comes from the "self" under the judgment of the Lord's death. The precious things that we can produce by our own strength are dross in the sight of God. All of these must be completely removed before we can find our place in God's eternal golden city.
