Oscar Wilde's classic novel The Picture of Dorian Gray is a chilling exploration of what happens when a person refuses to deal with the sin inside his heart.                                                                                  奧斯卡王爾德的經典小說《道林格雷的畫像》令人毛骨悚然地暴露了, 當人拒絕面對內心罪惡時, 會引發什麼.

      In this fantasy tale, the handsome character Dorian commissions a portrait of himself that will capture his good looks.  He is so captivated by this picture that he makes a wish --- he wants to stay young forever and let the picture "grow old" in his place.                                                                                   在這個奇幻故事中, 英俊的多里安委託人, 為自己繪製了肖像, 企圖捕捉他英俊的外表.  他被這幅畫迷住了, 並且許願 — 他要永遠年輕, 讓這幅畫代替他「變老」.

     Dorian gets his wish and then uses his youth and attractiveness to fulfill his desires.  His motives are self --- seeking, vain, and greedy in everything he does. As the years pass, Dorian periodically checks the picture in his back room.                                                                                                                        多里安的願望得到了,  然後利用他的青春和吸引力來實現他的願望.  他的動機都是自私 —  鑽營,虛榮, 和貪婪.  隨著時間的流逝, 多里安定期到他密室, 檢查的照片.

     Not only in his face growing old; it becomes gnarled and vicious.  Dorian is so ashamed that he covers the picture and refuses to let anyone look at it.  The picture has become a horrifying portrait of his soul!                                                                                                                                                             不僅是他的臉在變老, 而人變得粗糙而惡毒.  多里安非常羞愧, 他把照片遮起來, 不讓任何人看 那張照片, 已經成為他靈魂的恐怖寫照！

     Even though Oscar Wilde did not profess to be a Christian, he understood the effects of sin run rampant.  Dorian's picture was his sin revealer, even as God's Word is the instrument of conviction in your life.                                                                                                                                                      儘管奧斯卡王爾德並不自稱是基督徒, 但他了解罪惡猖獗的影響.  多里安的照片是他罪惡的顯示者, 正如上帝的話語是你生命中定罪的工具. 

     When you meditate on Scripture and feel the tug of His Word on your heart, pay attention.  God is urging you to confess your sin and experience the renewing power of forgiveness in Christ.                    當你默想聖經, 並感受到祂的話語對你的心施力時, 就得要注意.  上帝急迫的要你認自己的罪, 並且要你體驗在基督裡蒙受寬恕的更新力量.

                      Reveal me sins, O Lord, so I can deal with them.  Show me what is really in                                            my heart.                                                                                                                                                        主啊, 請顯明我的罪孽, 使我能處理牠們.  顯示我內心真正的在想什麼.

 

主耶穌基督, 求祢讓孩子向祢認犯 "今生驕傲"  的內心顯明我的罪孽.  孩子靠祢的恩典才能做這些事.  現在為感謝恩師趙國華教授給我機會, 能翻譯這本舉足輕重, 聞名於世的巨著 "J. A, Fox 著  Engineering Fluid Mechanics (工程流體力學)".  並且孩子要為填補恩師徐世大教授在 "中國水利工程學史綱" 一文中所嘆息事件 --- 因沒有關於支持中國水利工程繼續發展的基本知識 --- 水文學及水力學.  黃河才延至今, 仍在等待我國獻身水利工程的青年能藉用水文學及水力學的工具, 使黃河不但可以灌溉, 更可以進一步開展 --- 發電, 航運及觀光等目標.  

編輯者之能有機會翻譯聞名於世的巨著 "J. A, Fox 著  Engineering Fluid Mechanics (工程流體力學), 深深領悟是趙老師要再次造就學生.  故在學生決志要携帶家眷出國進修前, 化上很多腦力和時間, 慎重其事的選這本適合學生需要的, 有關水利工程應具備的智慧工具書.  主耶穌, 謝謝祢.  求賜孩子生命.

 編輯者因體力的關係, 只選擇其中的 "渠道水力學" 深入研究.

渠道水力學肯定有助於黃河的治理,  "束水攻沙" 是上上策.  但如何去做, 則有待工程師如何決策.  5000年與黃河的奮鬥, 都化費人命及金錢在對堤防的築建.  編輯者是書生, 沒有上過黃河的堤防.  但知越修越向後退, 被洪水搶佔好大一遍土地, 在網路上, 用數年的時間研讀中國地理與黃河的關係, 知道中國在地理上並沒占優勢, 若記得不錯的話, 平原佔 2/5, 其他都是山地, 沙漠.  我們要用 "束水攻沙" 的妙方, 來奪回這活命的淝沃的黃河泥沙沉積的土地, 可能嗎?  事在人為!      (待續)
