(95) "Do we count ourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus?" (Romans 6:11).

"In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus" (Romans 6:11).
What does "see" mean? I tell you for sure, that's not a pretense! The Greek word "to see" means to do accounting or bookkeeping. Accounting is one of the most accurate things we humans can do in the world. Can a painter paint a landscape as accurately as a camera? Can the historian guarantee that what he records is absolutely correct? Can the mapmaker guarantee that everything he draws is done with perfect precision? They can only get so close at best. What, then, can man be absolutely sure of? That's math! In mathematics, there is no room for error. One chair plus another equals two chairs. It is true in London, it is true in Corner City, it is true in New York, it is also true in Singapore, anytime anywhere in the world, one plus one equals two.
Could God's assertion be less than true? Will He tell me to enter some inaccurate figures in my books? Of course not. In this case, He tells us to regard ourselves as dead to sin on the basis of this: In Christ, it is a fact that we are dead to sin, and it is an eternally reliable fact.
