be formed in me, and let me learn of Him all lowliness of heart, all                                                    　　住在我裡面，容我學像祂　謙卑的心，

gentleness of bearing, all modesty of speech, all helpfulness of action, and                                         温和的態度，　　　　　　委婉的言語，　　　有益的行為，　　　並

promptness in the doing of my Father’s will.                                                                                         那立刻遵行天父旨意的　样

       O Thou who compassest, the whole earth with Thy most merciful favour                                     　  主啊，　你以你的仁慈美意　被宇宙，

and will not that any of Thy children should perish, I would call down Thy                                     　不容你的兒女滅亡，　　　　　容我今日求主

blessing today upon all who are striving towards the making of a better                                          降恩給一切努力着要改善这世界的人

   For all who are valiant for truth;   那些努力改善法制，

For all who are working for purer and huster laws:　使法律更合公道的人：

 For all who are working for peace between the nations:那些努力从事國際和平的人：

 For all who are engaged in healing desease:那些努力正在替人看病的医生：

 For all who are engaged in the relief of poverty:  那些努力从事濟貧工作的人： 

 For all who are engaged in the rescue of the fallen:  那些努力救濟失落的人：　

 For all who are working towards the restoration fo the broken unity of Thy Holy Church:            那些努力从事使圣教会歸於合一的人：

      For all who preach the gospel:   那些努力傳福音的人：

      For all who bear witness to Christ in foreign lands:   那些努力在國                                          

      For all who suffer for righteousness’ sake.　為主受害作見證的人：

        

                  Cast down, O Lord, all the forces of cruelty and wrong.  Defeat all selfish                        求主消除一切殘暴与惡勢力，　　　　使一切自私

and worldly –minded schemes, and prosper all that is conceived among us in                                 与追求世上肉體計劃歸於失敗，　　　　祝福我們中間一切出自基督教訓計劃，

今日黄河的沼泽都已填满，如何可以梦想那时候的河道？這是恩師徐世大教授在工程師節的演說的第一句問話?                                                                                                                                            (註: 徐公所說 "沼泽" 意即那時的湖泊, 沼澤地, 可供洪水儲蓄的水塘.) 

因此可悟出他老人家千叮萬囑"不要再與自然必定要發生的洪水爭地的思想.) 我们正应该用鲧的方法，把黄河的水陻于山中，一面让泥沙得以沉淀，一面利用水头来开发水力电（据前各方估计仅河曲到孟津可得八九百万马力），一面存贮洪水以免泛滥成灾。(註:  編輯者思索他老人家是說在黃河河套以下的河道建大埧蓄水發電, 以解山西窮苦的老佰姓, 苦無水灌溉, 生產不出糧食充饑, 一再冒死求生 —— 走西口.  並且住在黃土高原的山西人民可以不再把童山濯濯的禿頂山上僅僅剩下的樹, 或正在成長的樹苗砍下燒食物飽肚子. 或吃觀音土過日子.  因為大埧可望每年發八九百万马力的電, 供他們取暖, 燒飯. 及照明而用.—— 古賢大埧如及時雨的要開建, 使他們生活有希望.  編輯者求他所信的耶穌上帝, 幫助大埧早日順利完工, 希望他能在世見到山西同胞喜樂的過日子, 並蒙福後世千年.

以下是恩師徐公的演講詞: 禹的治水用疏而成功，这是因为沼泽的功用，“鲧陻洪水”——而失败，乃是工程技术不够。按陻，塞也，有人以为即是堤防，误。大概鲧想拦河筑坝，不让洪水来的太快，因为工程浩大，所以筑了九年之久，但因那时没有筑大坝的技术，而想遏止就下之水性，所以《洪范》说他 “汩陈其五行”，现在工程技术昌明时代，黄河下游又无沼泽，我们正应该用鲧方法，把黄河的水陻于山中，一面让泥沙得以沉淀，一面利用水头来开发水力电（据前各方估计仅河曲到孟津可得八九百万马力），一面存贮洪水以免泛滥成灾。而在发电以后，或用电力引水以灌高地，或下输以通航运，这正是禹所未了之功绩，要待现在的工程师来完成的。
