678 英翻中 (378)       Remembering the God's Word. 2/19/2024

Feb.   19.         Remembering the Word.     Bible reading : Psalm  119:33-40       Key verse  Isaiah 40:8  2

The grass eithers, the flower fades,                                                                                                              But the word of our God stands forever.

In the book The Light and the Glory, Peter Marshall Jr. tells how Isaac Potts, George Washington's temporary landlord, once discovered the future presdent in prayer.  Potts, a Quaker and a pacifist, came upon Washington's horse tethered by a secluded grove of trees ... Hearing a voice, he approched quietly and saw the General on his knees at prayer.  Not wanting to be discovered, he stood motionless until Washington had finished and returned to his headquarters.

Potts then hurried to tell his wife Sarah, "If George  Washington be not a man of God, I  am greatly deceived, and still more shall I be deceived, If God does not, through him, work out a great work out a great salvation for America."

Washington once said, "It is impossible to rightly govern .... without God and the Bible."  This tremendous truth was one he would carry with him through the years of the American Revolution and then into the office of the presidency.

Joining Washington was Benjamin Franklin who wrote, "If a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without God's notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?"

The question is not, Has God forgotten America? but, Has America forgotten God and His Word?

Write Your Word upon the tables of my heart, dear Lord.  I don't want to forget You!
