(318)        Know the Lord,   to listen to His own voice and follow Him closely.

" No longer will a man teach his neighbor or  a  man his brother, saying,  "Know the Lord,"   because  they will  all know me, from the least of them to the greatest." (Hebrews 8:11 NIV)

In the Old Testament era, when people sought to understand God's will, they were usually limited to the following two ways: (1) the law, and (2) the prophets. But Christianity is not based on notices but on revelation. Do you only have a bookish knowledge of Christ? Is your knowledge of Christ based solely on the words preached by some of God's true servants, or do you have direct contact with the Lord? If we have some close friends with God, and they can often communicate God's revelations to us and let us share them together, this is a very precious thing in our Christian life. Time and time again, we need thought --- provoking encouragement and anointing words from them. However, the New Testament definitely tells us,    "They will all know me." And the original meaning of the word "know" is "know me in them." No matter how much correct light comes from God for those whom God uses greatly, we should not rely solely on their fellowship and support to live and act. Our responsibility is to listen to the Lord's own voice and follow Him closely.
