"..... but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to Him as instruments of righteousness. " (Romans 6:13)
Many people
think that the word "dedication" means dedication, but they don't pay
attention to its content. Of course it means consecration, but not in the way
we think it means. It is not to dedicate our own "old man", together
with the "old man's" instincts, resources, natural wisdom, abilities
and other gifts, etc., for God's use. We can clearly understand the true meaning
of consecration from the above verse, "Be like those who have been raised
from the dead." The starting point of consecration is the "resurrection
from the dead". For what we offer is not something of the old creation,
but what has passed through death and has been resurrected. The
"consecration" mentioned here is the result of knowing that my old
man has been crucified with Christ, and counting myself as "alive to God
in Christ Jesus". First "knowing", then "reckoning",
and finally "dedicating", these three are a divine order.
