"The
LORD brought you out of Egypt out of the iron furnace, to be a special people
for his own inheritance" (Deuteronomy 4:20 NIV).
No
matter in the Old Testament or the New Testament, consecration and redemption
have never been seen as separate, but these two things are always closely
linked, and if there is one, there must be the other. The apostle Paul did not
consecrate himself to God until he was imprisoned or was about to be martyred.
His consecration began when he met the Lord on the road to Damascus. In God's
plan, His people have never been told to wait for a few years after they are
saved, or to wait until a special day of grace before fully dedicating themselves
to Him. In His mind, whenever He saves a person, He also wants to gain that
person at the same time. He redeemed me, and He requires me to consecrate
myself to Him. I consecrate myself to God for the wonderful gifts He has given
me.
