Your Creator of all things that are, I lift up my heart in gratitude to You for this day’s happiness:  創造万物的主,因為今天一天的快樂,我奉獻我的心在你面前,表示感謝.

    For the mere joy of living:

      因為生的快樂;

    For all the sights and sounds around me:

      因為一切目之所見, 耳之所聞;

    For the sweet peace of the country and the pleasant bustle of the town:

      因為鄉間的恬靜, 城市的熱鬧;

    For all things bright and beautiful and gay:

      因為一切光明, 美麗和快樂;

    For friendship and good company:

     因為一切良朋益友;

    For work to perform and the skill and strength to perform it:

      因為    一切所作的工作, 及那一切使我作成工作的心思力量;

For a time to play when the day’s work was done, and for health and a glad heart to enjoy it.因為那工作後的娛樂,  與那愉快健康能夠欣賞這娛樂的心情.

   Yet let me never think, O eternal Father, that I am here to stay.  Let me still remember

      永恆的父, 然而不要叫我以為我將在這裡永遠居留,

that I am a stranger and pilgrim on the earth.  For here we have no continuing city, but

   卻要記住我在世是客旅,  是天路的追求者.

we seek one to come.  Preserve me by Your grace, good Lord, from so losing myself in

the joys of earth that I may have no longing left for the purer joys of heaven.  Let not

  親愛的主, 求你保守我, 叫我不要喪失在塵世的歡樂中,

the happiness of this day become a snare to my too worldly heart.  And if, instead of

  以致對天上的喜樂不再懷想; 求主不叫今天的快樂,

happiness, I have today suffered any disappointment or defeat, if there has been any

sorrow, where I had hoped for joy, or sickness where I had looked for health, give me

1968年編輯者獲得中山獎學金赴西德研習水利工程, 就讀Karthrue Universty, 斯時該大學土木系講座教授為 Prfessor Dr. Emil Mosonyi .  他為匈牙利著名的水電工程專家, 受聘於德國Karthrue Universty 大學為獨一的一位講座教授.  編輯者當時因妻子患病, 立刻回國.  未能完成他老人家的愛心.  要不然定能加入三峽工程的水電工程的建造, 以增加編輯者在台大土木系水利工程教學有關水電方面知識的不足.  不過在台灣大學土木系求學時, 受惠於恩師徐世大教授的水電工程的教學, 給我澈悟.  他老人家的巨著 "大埧工程"及 親臨規劃 "石門水庫"的建造以享譽中國水利工程界.  最難得的是在  "石門水庫" 將完工時, 宣告只專任台大土木系教授之教職.  不與人爭, 應該是他老人家熟讀古書 "易經" 之心得.  編輯者牢記此事於心內.  為我行事為人的規矩.

水力發電是美國十九世紀早其他國家一步的先見. 1932-1933年的世界經濟大衰退. 美國羅斯福總統立法大力開發田納西流域水資源, 設立田納西水資源開發處(Tennessee Valley Authority" 的偉大建設, 不但使美國渡過經濟危機, 且使美國有充足的清潔能源  --- 水力電源被使用至今, 快近百年.
