我們在天上的父,  求祢的聖靈光照孩子, 在我軟弱無能的時候, 在我被試探的時候, 在我困難重重的時候, 在我偏行己路的時候, 求祢的聖靈, 溫暖安慰我, 引領我行在主的心意中, 奉主耶穌基督的聖名禱告,  阿們.

                The woord of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing                      even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the                        thoughts and intents of the heart.                                                                                                                  上帝的話是活而帶有能力的, 比一切兩刃的劍更鋒利, 甚至魂與靈, 骨節與骨髓, 都能刺                  入剖開, 連心裡的思念和主意都能辨認出來.

 

 

         Many Christians' lives are like the proverbial VCR clock.  They have a power source from which to draw, but like the unset blining clock that flashes 12:00 --- 12:00 ---12:00, their Christian walk is stuck in neutral.  They feel no real sense of purpose.                                                                                             許多基督徒的生活就像眾所周知的錄影機時鐘.  它們有電源可供行走, 但就像未設定的時間的鐘閃爍著 12:00 --- 12:00 ---12:00 等數字一樣, 基督徒的行走却困在中立狀態.  感覺不到他們真正的目標.

         Whether you are operating a VCR or traversing the difficult terrain of life, your most essential obligation is to read the instructions.  The only way to know the proper course of action is to see what the expert desigher says about each step in the process.                                                                                        無論您是操作錄影機鐘, 還是要渡過生活的困難, 您最重要的事, 就是閱讀說明書. 要清楚了解正確的行事為人的目標, 其唯一的方法是要了解專家設計者, 他在說明書中所寫的每個步驟.     

          God gave us one instruction manual: the Holy Bible.  There is no way to navigate life in a way that glorifies God or edifies yourself and others unless you know what God has to say.  If you have cyclically gotten away from His Word thrughout your life only to come back later, ask yourself why you keep returning.  It's because it's much easier with the instruction manual.                                                      上帝給了我們生活指導原則 ：聖經.  除非你知道祂說的是什麼, 否則你就無法榮耀上帝或造就自己和他人的生命.  如果你一生都像車輪一樣的原地打轉, 遠離上帝的話語, 但後來又回到祂身旁, 您就得問問自己, 為什麼你要回轉.  那是因為有了生活指導原則 ：聖經, 可供使用, 就容易過日子了.

         There are two reasons why people wander from God's Word.  They may be ignorant of it's precious truths and overehelmed by its magnitude and complexities (as with  many new believers) , or they simply lay it aside and endeavor to make it in life in their own wisdom.

          人偏離上帝的話有兩個原因 :  他們可能不知道祂的話是寶貴真理, 並被它的重要性和複雜性所迷惑（就像許多新信徒一樣）, 或者他們乾脆把祂的話不睬不理, 放在一邊, 却專心用自己的智慧來過他們的生活.                                                                                                                                            This start-and-stop approach stymies proper growth and , as with the VCR clock, leaves Christians emtting only an intermittent light.                                                                                                        這種一再開始又停止的做法, 會阻礙它的正常的發展, 就像錄影機時鐘一樣, 讓基督徒只射出間歇性的光亮.

             Keep my light brigtly shining, Lord, as it is illumined by Your truth.  I want to live my life                     with Your divine instruction manual as my guide.                                                                                       主啊,  求祢讓我被祢真理所照亮的光, 保持明亮的閃耀.  求祢用祢神聖的生活指導手冊來               引領走我的生活途徑.

編輯者對訪友致深切的謙意. 延誤了六天才回答問題. 請原諒我忽略您們並不一定是學工程的, 或是學工程的, 不一定學土木工程.  像編輯者學土木工程, 但是選的是水利工程.  我至於最後要在博客裡寫有關水利工程的知識, 是因為我在離開台灣大學土木系前, 正在收集有關中國古代水利工程的資料, 想寫有關 "中國水利學史綱", 以報恩師徐世大先生教育之恩. 那知事與願違. 總覺心中有件事未了, 希望藉博客了此心願.  謝謝您們.  

＂過水堤防(overtopping dike)＂實在是新的構想.  水利工程師從未想到設計堤防, 會讓洪水從頂上越過. 這樣肯定會把堤防沖垮. 但現在工程師的著眼點在 "分洪" .  現在所考慮的, 不像荊江分洪大埧那麼堅固. 的確要比原本舊式的分洪設計要管用. 為什麼?  讓洪水越頂, 是讓部分洪水越堤, 把這越頂的洪水, 讓它在堤後坡度緩慢的流, 而不致沖刷, 這越堤的部分洪水存留在堤後, 而讓它漫流 (廣泛的讓水漫流, 限制水深, 這就分去了一大部分的洪水, 不致造成大的洪水災害). 對極強烈的洪水, 該法也無法防止洪水造成洪災.  堤防向河面必須堅固如從前的設計. 但堤防的背水面則不可輕視. 其坡度(slope) 必須平緩,  要經水工試驗室精密的分析, 才可使用為坡度設計.  至於堤頂及背水面的建築材料選擇, 現在無須顧慮, 因為工程材料學已廣泛的在工程科學中加強研究, 決不能讓其表面被洪流沖刷. 造成潰堤的危險.
