Feb. 24 Trusting Your Conscience. Bible reading :John 16: 7-15 Key verse: John 16:13 2
However, when He,the Spirit of truth, has come , He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
At
the most fundamental level, your conscience gives you the capacity to distinguish
between right and wrong. It is like a
personal alarm system that works for your protection . You have probably had this experience : just
as you were about to participate in or initiate something questionable, warning
bells went off in your mind: Are you sure you should do this? If you went ahead and did it, you surely had
a bad feeling in the pit of your stomach that did it not go away until you made
things right.
By
itself, the conscience is a built-in monitor that signals you when a thought or
action may violate your into a certain choice, and it does not necessarily point
you to the option that is in kine with God’s truth. This is a vital principle to understand in
order to avoid misdirection.
Only when you accept Christ as your Savior does the conscience function as God planned. The Holy Spirit dwells within you the moment you place your faith in Jesus, and in His hands the conscience becomes a tool to assist you in making decisions according to God’s Word.
Father, I choose to trust Your Word rather than my conscience. Help me bring my life into alignment with the truths od Scripture.
