549 中翻英 (249) Lord's Prayer. 10/12/2023

549 中翻英 (249)              Lord's Prayer. 10/12/2023

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;  thy kingdom come;  thy will be done;  on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.  For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

"Your kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven!" (Matthew 6:10 NIV)

We should pray like this: "Thy kingdom come!" If God's kingdom could come of its own accord, He wouldn't have to tell us to pray like this. But God’s people must pray, because God’s work is accomplished by God answering the calls of His people. “Thy will be done!” Yes, but where? “On earth!” Because this is the only place where God’s will has not yet been fulfilled today. But how can the kingdom of God be brought to earth? It is to get rid of Satan's rebellious will through the will of the creature and the will of the Creator. Because prayer always involves three aspects: toward God, for people and against demons. What we must oppose on earth through prayer is Satan who resists God’s will. But God does not act alone to deal with the rebel. He waits for us to cooperate with Him in prayer. The prayers that the Lord taught his disciples that day are not only a model for our prayers, but also a revelation of God’s will.
