August 10

"When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place." (Acts 2:1)

When God became flesh and came among His people, only a handful of people expected Israel to be redeemed. They believed that God would act, and that he would act by and through them. Later, when the Lord Jesus was on earth, a large number of people followed Him, but still only a smaller group of people declared: "Lord, you have the words of eternal life, to whom shall we go?" Once, before the Lord Jesus ascended to heaven, He commanded His disciples to "wait for what the Father has promised." This command probably reached the more than 500 brothers who saw Him rise from the dead. At Pentecost, however, only one hundred and twenty gathered to pray and to work with God in His latest move. Where are the other three hundred and eighty brothers? They will probably all be there in the future, but the problem is that they are not there when God is going to act.

In reality, God often moves from the majority of His people through a faithful few. This group of people is willing to fully submit to God today for His will in the whole church.
