60  助词 “will” 的应用(二)

今年是马年, 恭贺各位年青的朋友们, 学习英语的语法, 能马到成功.

拒绝

在  “will” 的应用(一) 课程中, 提到要表示否定的 “will” , 用 won’t (等于 will not), 也曾讨论到拒绝是用will not的否定词形won’t.  特别是 won’t 可以用在物的对象上.
     例如：    The door won’t shut.
                     The car wouldn’t start this morning.   早上汽车不能发动.

委婉或虚拟语气

will和would都用于提出请求.   若用would是为了使语气委婉, 甚至虚拟的语气.  
      例如： Will you please pass me the salt? 请你把盐传给我好吗?
                   Would you ask them to wait outside? 你可否请他们在外面等等? (不肯定)
                   Would Sunday night suit you?   星期天晚上可以吗?
       [注] :  would 在 “虚拟语气” 的应用, 于下课中详述之.

用won’t在否定句中比较更为谦让一些.

       例如： Won’t you take off your coat?   要不要请您脱下大衣?
                Won’t it be better to paint it green?  是不是把它漆成绿色的比较好一些?

不要用 “will” 在对话中, 涉及谈话人已经安排好在将来要做的事

      例如:      I'm going on holiday next Saturday. (不能用 'I'll go' 因为他已安排好)
                     Are you working tomorrow? (不能用 'will you work' 因为他已肯定)

 will ( 'll ) 与下列各词, probably, wonder, sure, guess, suppose, doubt 常常连用

probably

      例如:  I'll probably be home late this evening. 
                 我或者很晚才会在家.
expect
      例如  : I haven't seen Linda today. I expect she'll phone this evening.
      
sure
       例如 :     Don't worry about the interview. I'm sure you'll pass.

 wonder

       例如 :  I wonder what will happen.

guess

      例如 :   I guess your parents will be tired after their trip.

suppose

      例如 :  When do you suppose John and Linda will get married?
