疑問代名詞（Interrogative pronouns） 

疑問代名詞 (who, which, what) 是用來發問句及代替名詞的, 多位於句首, who 用於人或動物, what 用於動物, 事物,  或意念 (ideas); 而which則可用於人, 動物, 事物, 或意念 (ideas)  :

      例如,  What did you eat?

                 Who will help me?

                 Which do you prefer?   

疑問代名詞  who  有三種變形 : 

1.      主位疑問代名詞（nominative interrogative pronouns）:  如who,  用作主語, 它在句首.

             例如,  Who has been weeding the garden?

              Who has seen the new principal? 

2.   賓位疑問代名詞（objective interrogative pronouns）:  如whom  用作賓語, 它在

     句首.

         例如,  Whom did you visit?

                    Whom shall we find next? 

        注意:  在使用 who該疑問代名詞時, 要當心  who 及  whom的位(case), 為避免錯

                   誤, 我們最好改寫句子以便在 he 和 him 之間作一選擇.  如果你要的是 him, 

                    那就寫 whom;  如果你要的是 he, 那就寫 who.  請仔細看清底下有劃線的單

                    詞, 就知道應該用who 或是whom了.

                           例如,   Who do you think is responsible? (對的, 是主位)

                                            (改寫Do you think he is responsible?)

                                      Whom shall we ask to the party? (對的, 是賓位)

                                            (改寫Shall we ask him to the party?)  

3.  領位疑問代名詞（possessive interrogative pronouns）:  如whose  用作領位, 它在

     句首.

            例如,  Whose are these gloves?

                       Whose are those purple pencils?  

         注意:  在使用領位疑問代名詞時, 必須要能分辨whose 與who’s 這兩個

　　　　　單詞──前者是who 的領位疑問代名詞, 而後者是who is的縮寫.

                   Whose are these gloves?

                  Who's (Who is) coming to the party? 

疑問代名詞what, which 則只有一種型式. 

疑問代名詞的先行詞 (antecedents) 位於該問句的答案之處.

     例如,  Who is the new teacher? Ms. Ryan is the new teacher.

                     (Ms. Ryan 是who的先行詞)

                What did you eat? I ate a pear.  ( pear是what的先行詞)

                Which did you choose? I chose the apple.  (apple是 which的先行詞)

      試在下列各句中選擇正確的who的詞形(whom, whose, 或who’s)

          1.   (Whose, Who's) coming tomorrow?

         2.   (Who, Whom) have you asked?

         3.   (Whose, Who's) going to plant potatoes?

          4.   (Who, Whom) will do most of the work?

          5.   (Who, Whom) shall I ask about the tomatoes?
