我們親愛的天父,  求施憐憫給我這失喪的罪人.  祢多次從死亡中拯救了我, 而我沒有順服祢的旨意, 求祢再次賜恩拯求我, 使我成為新造的人, 能學像這五位年輕的美國基督徒, 艾略特(Jim Elliot), 聖特(Nate Saint), 馬克卡里(Ed McCully), 佛萊明(Peter Fleming), 和佑得瑞安(Roger Youderian).  他們是那麼的愛祢, 為把祢的福音傳給 "未得之民", 而喪失自己的生命, 求祢讓我也有他們這樣熱愛祢的.  奉主耶穌的名禱告.

10 年後, 有成千的神學生奉獻到海外傳道.  且有阿卡族語言的馬可福音在他們葬身之地問世.

當厄瓜多爾沒有當地語言的聖經時,  基督信仰者有責任要把英文聖經翻成阿卡族文的聖經.  所以這五位年輕的美國基督信仰者犧牲自己的生命, 帶來了阿卡族語言的馬可福音.  編輯者深深覺得學習英語有其神聖的目的.     所以我懇求上帝再賜生命, 讓我能把魏爾斯比著作的四本新約解經書, 如有關主耶穌一生事跡的 馬太福音, 馬可福音, 路加福音和約翰福音的前言翻成中文.     讓博客的訪問者有機會認識耶穌.  

常見國內年輕喜好英文的學生學習翻譯, 順著英文原句, 一個短語一個短語, 直接用意思相近的中文短語翻出來.    句子翻完了, 頂多把明顯不合中文語氣的時間短語改換調到句子的前面.     這種直譯的方式，會使翻譯的作品不太合中文的習慣用法.    使譯文帶有英文的語氣,   成為英文式的中文.

"Pity is depressant," wrote the eccentric philosopher Friedrich Nietzche.  “A man loses power when he pities." Nietzche went mad in the year Adolph Hitler was born, but Hitler carried on that philosophy. He despised other people and stood apart from them. He especially despised the weak and the handicapped, and he developed programs for exterminating them.

前言:

路加福音: 第一章至十三章 充滿同情心 

偏極的哲学家尼采寫道, “同情是鎮定劑.     當人同情別人時,  他就失去了权力.” 當希特勒出生時, 尼采发疯了, 但希特勒秉承了这一理念.  他鄙视人并与他们不站在一起.  他特别鄙视弱者和残障的人, 並且制定了灭绝他们的计划.

Robert Payne wrote, "Even on festive occasions he remained singularly alone, the flow of emotion ceasing abruptly when it came in contact with him. . . . He demanded for himself an immunity from people" (The Life and Death of Adolph Hitler,  p. 461).

罗伯特·佩恩写道：“即使在喜庆的场合, 他仍然是孤單單的; 当你与他接触时, 情感的流露會突然停止 …… 他要求自己不受別人的感染”（ “希特勒的生与死”，第461页）。

What a contrast to Jesus Christ, the compassionate Son of Man! In his Gospel, Dr. Luke describes our Lord as one who mingled with people,  including publicans and sinners, and who shared the burdens of the afflicted and the weak. Jesus has proved conclusively that pity is a sign of strength, not of weakness; and that God's power flows through loving hearts.

与充滿熱情的人子耶稣基督恰好相反！路加在所著的福音書中,他形容我们的主是與人及罪人在一起的主, 並且祂分担受苦和軟弱人的負擔.  耶稣已经证明了同情是力量的象征，而不是脆弱的表現；並且上帝的能力出自慈爱憐憫的心，

I think it was George Bernard Shaw who said that if the other planets are inhabited, they must be using the earth as their insane asylum.  Our world is filled with hurting people who need a loving touch and a word of encouragement. Jesus has put His people here to let the world know that He cares.

我想是蕭伯纳说過, 如果其他星球有人居住, 他们一定把地球當作为他们的精神病院.  我们的世界充满了被伤害的人;  他们需要爱心的撫慰和鼓励的话。耶稣把祂的子民放在世上, 让世人都知道祂同情他們.

His command to us is, "Be compassionate!"
